Competition Bureau Signs MOU with the OSC

The Competition Bureau signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) on November 25, 2014. The OSC regulates the capital market in Ontario. Both agencies share a mutual interest in protecting the public from fraudulent business practices while maintaining fairness, efficiency and confidence in the market. Under the MOU, the Competition Bureau and the OSC have agreed to cooperate in the following areas:

• Notification of matters that are of mutual interest or concern;
• Assisting in investigations, litigation or other enforcement action;
• Exchanging information and intelligence;
• Implementing collaborative opportunities for staff training; and
• Annual meetings at senior management level to explore further cooperative opportunities
