Carriage of Bread Price-Fixing Class Action Awarded to AGM and 3 Other Firms

The Ontario Superior Court of Justice awarded carriage of a class action into alleged price-fixing of packaged bread to a consortium of law firms including Affleck Greene McMurtry LLP. In his decision, Justice E.M. Morgan found that the consortium of four law firms with cases filed in six Canadian jurisdiction was best-placed to serve the needs of the putative class of plaintiffs alleging price-fixing of packaged bread in Canada.

The class actions stemmed from admissions from Loblaw Companies Ltd., Canada’s largest grocer, to its involvement in the coordination of retail and wholesale prices for bread from late 2001 to March 2015. Our articles on alleged bread price-fixing can be found here.
